We have an exciting opportunity for a Despatch Supervisor to join our team at Agrial Fresh Produce in Wigan, WN5 0LB. The Despatch Supervisor will manage the daily operation of the despatch function to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately, on time and in compliance with food safety, quality and legal requirements. 

The Despatch Supervisor will be accountable for all activities required to achieve delivery performance targets and operational efficiency by managing and overseeing the despatch team to ensure adequate resources are deployed in line with cost controls and delivery targets. The successful candidate will ensure stock rotation is carried out in accordance with the FIFO process, with all used and unused products accurately documented to maintain full traceability and compliance with stock rotation requirements

Working hours: Sunday to Thursday, 1pm-10pm

Pay: Up to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience

Main Responsibilities 

  • Organise, manage and oversee the despatch team to ensure adequate resources are deployed in line with cost controls and delivery targets.
  • Ensure stock rotation is carried out in accordance with the FIFO process, with all used and unused products accurately documented to maintain full traceability and compliance with stock rotation requirements.
  • Oversee accurate and timely data entry into the ERP system, ensure all paperwork and documentation are completed correctly, in adherence to established procedures, while maintaining data integrity.
  • Manage the despatch team to ensure adherence to established procedures, overseeing the inspection of outgoing finished products for quality and accuracy, while ensuring correct labelling, documentation, and tracking information are completed in line with company standards.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout the despatch area by driving attitudes and conducting GMP and Health and Safety audits
  • Provide clear direction, motivation, and support all team members through effective management and positive leadership, whilst evaluating the performance of the team using the Company’s appraisal system, including personal development plans.

Skills and Experience Required 

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within food manufacturing, FMCG, or logistics.
  • Desirably, an understanding of FMCG industries across food production and short-shelf life logistics.
  • Strong leadership, communication and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Good knowledge of ERP/WMS systems and MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Agrial Fresh Produce is one of three UK food manufacturing factories within Agrial Fresh Produce Ltd, which is an autonomous part of the larger 22,000 employee strong French co-operative group, Agrial. 

Our Wigan site is a well-established business unit that processes and distributes pre-packed, ready to eat, fresh salad bags and bowls to some of the UK's well-known retailers and restaurants. We are based on Martland Park Industrial Estate, which is ideal for travel on the M61, M6 and M62. The business has other operations in the UK, known commonly with our recognisable Florette salad brand and we are one of the UK’s leading producers in the industry.
